Oystein Sevag生于1957年的挪威，5岁开始学钢琴，儿童时代的他广泛地接触了从披头士到古典的各种风格音乐。12岁在摇滚乐队里担任贝司手。在奥斯陆音乐学校学习古典钢琴、笛子和作曲期间便完成了他的第一件作品。后来，他成为了80年代挪威现代音乐协会的成员。这时，电子合成乐的出现激发了他的兴趣与灵感，于是他着手成立了他自己的工作室（位于Stokke的Bogen Lydstudio工作室）。1989年，他发表了他的处女作专辑“身临其境”。专辑发行立刻登上公告牌新世纪音乐榜的前25位并蝉联17周之久，两年后，Gavin Reports提名“身临其境”为1991年度最佳成人另类唱片。Sevag的第二张专辑“链接”中有许多音乐人的参与，它的发行时间稍快，并与范吉利斯、克里斯多夫弗兰克等大师一起受到大众的评论与比较。其中有5支曲子被哥伦比亚广播电视台采用，作为1994年利勒哈默尔冬季奥运会的配乐。
