据说是夏威夷最后一任女王莉莉．乌欧卡拉尼（Queen Lili uokakani）作品
Aloha Oe不只旋律优美，歌词亦相当动人，与苏格兰民谣Auld Lang Syne（骊歌）已成为世界上流传最广的二首离别歌曲。

中文译词的意境比较偏重在一般好友的离情，不似原歌词是意指恋人的离别，所以这首歌因而在团康活动中被使用得最多，却相当贴切。狄斯耐卡通电影「星际宝贝」亦将此曲作为电影插曲，剧中情境感人。

Aloha Oe這首舉世聞名的夏威夷民謠，為十九世紀末夏威夷最後一任女王莉莉．烏歐卡拉尼（Queen Lili uokakani）還是公主時，於1878年所作，莉莉．烏歐卡拉尼平時喜愛音樂，並且擅長作曲。有一天，她看到一對戀人離別前的深情擁抱，那情景激發她的思緒，而完成了這首動聽的離別歌曲。她写作这首曲子的时候是1878年，当时她还是一个公主。
另外一個說法是，自從葡萄牙商船將吉他這種樂器傳入夏威夷後，受到當地人的喜愛。1872年時，有一艘德國商船來到夏威夷，船長亨利柏傑曾經是一位軍樂隊指揮，當時莉莉．烏歐卡拉尼的父親，夏威夷國王卡米克哈五世，邀請亨利柏傑（Henry Berger）留下來居住，因此亨利柏傑就結合西方歌曲的曲調與夏威夷當地之風情做了數十首情歌，Aloha Oe即是其中一首。後來，亨利柏傑離開了夏威夷，不久後，卡米克哈五世去世了，莉莉．烏歐卡拉尼繼任為女王，但因與美國在領土上的衝突，被美國關入監獄，在監獄中時，將這首Aloha Oe做了一些修改，因而後來當地人認為這首歌是莉莉．烏歐卡拉尼女王所作。
